Single Fiber Cut
Excavator cuts the PON3 feeder. Watch LOS cascade to every ONU, then auto-splice after 45 s.
Multi-Feeder Cut
Road works sever PON2 + PON9 together — a real NOC nightmare. Repairs land 70 s later.
BER Storm
A dirty connector pushes PON5 into a bit-error storm. Port degrades until you restart it.
PSU-1 Failure
Primary power module trips. System runs on PSU-2 alone; module replaced after 60 s.
FAN Tray Failure
Cooling tray stops. Watch chassis temperature climb until the tray is swapped (50 s).
Control CPU Overload
A rogue NMS floods SNMP walks; CPU pins at ~95% for 40 s.
ONU Flapping
Loose patch cord makes 5 ONUs on PON1 flap — down, up, down again.
Rogue ONU
Unauthorized ONU transmits out of slot on PON7, degrading the whole port until you scan & restart.
Neighbourhood Power Outage
Grid failure drops most subscribers on PON4. Power returns after 60 s.
Evening Peak Congestion
Prime-time streaming pushes every port near capacity. DBA fights for fairness.
Splitter Failure
A water-damaged 1:32 splitter on PON6 kills light to its branches (port optics stay clean).
Slow Optical Degradation
